This Too Will Pass…but when? by Debbie Norrell

You have heard the phrase and by this time you have probably said it numerous times, “this too will pass.” In the back of your head, you say when will it pass. Back in March when we were initially told to stay in the house and wear a mask when we went to the grocery store for provisions, we thought this would last for a few weeks, and then the weeks turned into months. Events that we were looking forward to and planning to attend were first rescheduled and then canceled, jobs were lost, and savings accounts were depleted. When we heard about the death of a friend, we immediately thought Covid-19. These last 9 months have been difficult for a lot of people even if you are not in a food line or asking for rent forgiveness watching fellow Americans suffer has been hard. For many of us, and I am talking about myself here, it has been very depressing to stay at home when you are used to going out. If you are reading this column, I am shouting to the rooftops that you are alive and I pray well. However, you may be depressed and wondering will things ever be the same, you know back to normal. I doubt things will ever be back to the way we thought was normal. Now that groups have gotten a taste of virtual living and the money that can be saved all of the big events that we “used to attend” may never return. I pray that does not happen, I am so ready to get dressed and see friends and take pictures without masks. Let us hope that sometime in 2021, or it may be 2022, that we will look back on this time and thank God that we made it through. Happy New Year everyone and be thankful for all that you have.
