My Pet Peeve by Debbie Norrell

That title would lead you to believe that I have just one pet peeve. I have enough to fill a book, chapter one will begin with people who do not use their turn signals, chapter two features people who make no effort to use the correct word in a sentence. I’ll bet you can guess which word really pushes my button. Yes, it is your and you’re and to add insult to injury they blame it on Facebook or say it really doesn’t matter you know what I meant. Well, it does matter. I am part of a group of women that are involved with fashion and many don’t know that sequins and sequence are two different words with very different meanings. It drives me crazy. Aside from the misuse of words and improper signaling I cannot take a person that litters. There have been many times that I have been driving behind someone and they throw garbage out of their car window. Why? Please take that garbage home and throw it away or to the nearest garbage can. Recently I was driving along a busy roadway and there was a group of volunteers in bright neon vests picking up litter. This is a dangerous task, and it would not be necessary if people would put their trash in the trash can. What do you think the problem is? I say home training. My parents did not allow us to litter we had to throw garbage in its proper place. Somedays I want to grab a pair of rubber gloves and a garbage bag and pick up the trash that I see along the streets. I did volunteer on Earth Day years ago and it was a hard job. It’s funny in some neighborhoods you do not see litter at all and then in others litter is everywhere. Things that make you go hmmm.
