Here is a question for you. Have you ever thought about something and then all of a sudden, you are receiving posts about that very topic. I have had his happen more than once, as a matter of fact it happens often. The most recent incident involves my recent A1C results. My phone is always by my side and during a recent visit to my primary care doctor my phone was in my purse. My doctor was talking to me about my test results and how to lower my A1C. Almost immediately every other Reel on my Facebook page was about type 2 diabetes. It has been crazy. The majority of these posts are sponsored and want me to buy something. Others give information that appears to be credible. Frankly I have gotten better information from these Facebook posts than I got from my doctor of 44 years. The information is more holistic, these people advocate for changes to your diet, walking right after meals and work outs that involve some weight training. The only thing my doctor suggested was losing about 5 pounds. I have cut back on those Happy Meals that I love so much, my beloved potato chips and that sweet lemonade. He never mentioned anything about diet or exercise and to think that I used to call my doctor “my Doctor Welby.” I find that a patient has to do the work and the research and be an advocate for your own health. When you get your results look up how you can get your numbers into a normal range, if they are not normal. Look into supplements, doctors never recommend supplements. I guess because there is nothing in it for them. I’m hoping that when I go back for my next test that the results are good, I will keep you posted.
