Stop the Violence Pittsburgh/ WPA (Pittsburgh) Juneteenth Celebration

WHERE: Downtown Pittsburgh PA, Market Square and Point State Park

Greetings, and Happy Black History Month!

JUNETEENTH is the AMERICAN celebration of the end of chattel slavery started in 1865 when Black Union Soldiers fought and notified African people in Texas that slavery had been abolished.

Last year, coming off one of the largest Juneteenth Celebration in the nation with over 50,000 attendees and generating $4.2 million in economic impact for Pittsburgh-Allegheny County (see below Reports), we are pleased to announce the Programming Schedule for our 2024 WPA (Pittsburgh) Juneteenth Homecoming Celebration.

STARTING:

FRI June 14th at 11am

Come through Downtown Pittsburgh, inside Market Square and the Liberty Ave Small Business Vendor Plaza to shop where over 200 Small Businesses who will be selling food items; culture, clothing and craft items; showcasing Black artworks and crafts; and selling other specialty materials.

At 1pm, Our Juneteenth-in-the-Square, Old-school Program, will start inside Market Square with local vendors, speakers, cultural activities, and a performance by 496 WEST BAND and special feature RnB/Funk Band KLYMAXX later that evening (Stage #2).

At 5pm, join us for our Juneteenth kickoff inside the Small Business Vendor Plaza with Speakers, a Memorial Service and more on Liberty avenue.

Starting at 6pm, get ready for Our Juneteenth Celebration of the 51st Yr of Hip Hop with a special performance by Hip Hop Legends Philadelphia FREEWAY + Beanie Sigel, and a featured performance by Grammy Award Winning Band ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT inside Point State Park (Stage #1).

SAT June 15th at 11am

Join Us in Downtown Pittsburgh starting at 11am for the annual Juneteenth-Jubilee Parade, A SALUTE TO BLACK MILITARY SERVANTS. This Parade starts at Freedom Corner in the lower Hill District , and through Downtown Pittsburgh (5th avenue) on to Point State Park.

From 2p-4p, get ready for Our Social Justice & Financial Juneteenth Summit in Downtown Pittsburgh with speakers covering social justice and financial recovery inside the Black community.

Visit the Juneteenth-in-the-Square location for another Old-school musical showcase inside Market Square at 7pm featuring The BLACKBYRDS (Stage #2).

Join us inside Point State Park, starting at 5pm for Ladies Night Out with special performances by RnB Icons BROWNSTONE, Elle Varner and a featured band performance by KEKE WYATT (Stage #1).

SUN June 16th

Starting at 11am Join us inside Market Square for a special performance by Marlon Martin of WAMO 107.3, “I Praise with Brother Marlon” show.

At 3pm get ready for Pastor Deryck Tines and Singers inside Market Square (Stage #2)

Inside Market Square, at 7pm Join Us for a special Jazz & RnB performance by national recording artist ADAM HAWLEY (Stage #2).

Join us inside Point State Park, starting at 5pm, for a special musical presentation featuring local Gospel Artist Nicol Porter and Trini Masse (Stage #1).

Finally, Our featured artists to close out the 2024 Pittsburgh Juneteenth Weekend Celebration, are RnB and Gospel sensations Kelly Price and STOKLEY (Stage #1).

WED June 19th

Juneteenth Fireworks at 9:00pm off the Northshore of Pittsburgh PA.
