A look Not a Label Postponed by Debbie Norrell

Last year I decided to have a fashion show that I have dreamed of hosting for a very long time. My favorite type of shopping involves, deep discounters, thrift stores and consignment stores. A consignment store owner once shared with me that when you shop at a consignment store you are shopping multiple stores all under one roof. That is so true when you shop a consignment store that is mindful of what they consign. You could easily be looking at fashions from Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom’s or Macy’s you never know. Since last year I have been shopping for a show that I was going to host on August 23, “A Look Not a Label.” This was to be a shop the runway show. If I got if for $5 you buy it for $5.To some labels are very important and I’m not saying that labels don’t matter but I want the garment to give me a certain look and if the label is a well-known label that is icing on the cake. Recently I started to fit models in their garments for the show however with the recent pandemic there are too many restrictions and rules to follow. I want the people who attend to have a good time. If I went forward with the August date I was going to have to cut the attendance, have the models wear masks, have all guests wear masks, practice social distancing and get creative about serving the food. As you know there are strict limitations on self-serve food or buffet style meals. My plan is to move the show to August of 2021. You will see the announcement on The Soul Pitt and Facebook.
