Truth be told I never paid much attention to the Draft until it was in Detroit in 2025. My sister and her family live in Detroit therefore I paid attention to it, and then when I found out it was coming to Pittsburgh in 2026 I was actually interested. What I didn’t know was that the draft was such a big deal. Since I didn’t know I’m guessing there are others that did not know either. So here is a little history. The NFL draft has evolved significantly since its since its inception in 1936. Initially a modest event, it transformed into a major spectacle with extensive media coverage and fan engagement. Key milestones include the first combined NFL and AFL draft in 1967, the introduction of live television coverage in 1980, and the move to Radio City Music Hall in 1990 which became a symbol of the draft’s growth. By 2015 the draft was held in prime-time attracting millions of viewers and thousands of attendees making it one of the most anticipated events in American sports. So here is my question for you. Do you plan to attend? What are your plans? I think parking will be a challenge, and traffic is going to be tight. Have you thought about where you might go to the restroom should you have to go while there? Well, those are all of the things on my mind. I always think about a clean public restroom. If I attend the draft, I am thinking that I would rather use public transportation to get into downtown or have someone drop me off. It might be best to go with several friends so we can share the cost of a rideshare service. Actually, I would hate to miss this one time only event for Pittsburgh. I want to see the vendors and what Pittsburgh has done “just for the draft.” The date is April 23 until April 25, its going to be a busy time do plan accordingly. Lots of people will be in Pittsburgh who don’t know their way around and might be getting in your way. If you go, have a good time and keep your eye on your wallet.
