If you are in the Pittsburgh area there is a good chance that you have been snowed in for a few days. Thanks to the weather services most of us made it to the grocery store to stock up and prepare for the snowstorm. I tried to get all of my favorite things, like ice cream and fixings for corn bread and chili. Its no fun being stuck in the house and you don’t have anything to eat and no way to get to the store. Once the snow stopped many areas had about 12 to 14 inches. The difference with this recent snowstorm is the low temperatures and the snow is not going to melt anytime soon. So, after the snow stopped most people had to somehow shovel out their cars or shovel walkways and driveways. If you didn’t have the strength to do it yourself finding someone to shovel was a challenge. I remember back in the day, yes, I am always going down memory lane, there used to be young kids that would come around with shovels and want to shovel your walk or driveway for a fee. As soon as the show started, they would begin their game plan on making money. You just don’t see kids coming around trying to make money anymore. I wonder why. There was a lot of money to be made during this snowstorm. I have a friend who paid an adult close to $200 to shovel her walk and driveway. Not only did you need to shovel the snow, if your car was on the street you had to clean off the car. I feel fortunate to have a garage that I can put my car in each night. My advice, when you see snowmelt hit the shelves buy at least two, always keep a snow shovel, a knit hat and gloves and keep canned goods in the cupboard just in case.
