How many have tossed around the phrase “the new normal?” I try not to use it because I do not want it to stick. I don’t want wearing masks and staying away from large groups to be my new normal but I do realize that I have to go along with the program if I want to stay healthy. I keep waiting for the shelves at the stores to fill up in certain areas. Many stores have posted signs in their stores that state they are temporarily out of merchandise. I wonder when is this going to be over as far as merchandise. My thoughts are that a lot of the merchandise comes out of China and it will be a while before restrictions are lifted and shelves are full again or like it used to be. I did a little research and found that the number of products that will be on store shelves has been drastically reduced. As far as grocery stores, 42,000 items are typical for the average store. Reportedly that number will drop, and it will be a permanent change. People are doing more online ordering. Well, I am not. I don’t want to get groceries online nor do I want to pick them up curbside and as long as I can drive, I want to go into the store and select my items. I’ve watched the employees who select the food for pickup and delivery and to me, they would not take the time to pick up a ripe avocado vs a hard one or a marbled ribeye steak vs one that is not marbled. Now that the seasons are changing the outdoor dining will soon go away. We will have to go back to cooking more at home. Stock your shelves, stay healthy, and vote.
