On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, the Flood City Youth Fitness Academy located in Johnstown, PA held its grand opening for their virtual learning center. The FCYFA is now offering a safe haven for school-aged children to learn and get the resources they need to academically succeed. Students will have access to computers and the internet to complete online assignments throughout the school week. Students will also be offered assistance with their schoolwork along with hot meals to get them through the day.
Mr. Oscar Cashaw, FCYFA executive director, visioned the virtual learning center and coordinated with Deacon Jeffrey Wilson who is the FCYFA program director, Mr. Jack Babish who is the Ameriserv Financial Senior Vice President, the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, Ron and Lisa Kuchera, the Ann Smith Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House, EMAP, Avail business systems of Johnstown, the Greater Johnstown School district and others in the community to make the virtual learning center a success. “Thank God for everyone who made this an accomplishment”, says Mr. Oscar Cashaw. “I want to thank the children too because without the children this wouldn’t be possible”.
