I have been watching the news stories about the lack of baby formula and still can’t understand what is really going on. When is someone going to take on the task of really having things made in America? Yes, I said it and I’m not talking about making America great again I just want to see tags that say, “made in the USA.” When I buy vintage clothing that phrase always makes me feel good about that garment. Recently I went shopping for some shelving units. I went to IKEA and found a lot that I liked. Everyone that I selected was marked as “temporarily not available,” I asked one of the salespeople when would they be available, and she said she did not know. I think my best bet may be to shop the thrift and consignment stores for something I can take with me the same day. I was hoping this supply chain issue was almost over. There is something that I buy often at the Dollar25 Tree, and it has now disappeared in the Pittsburgh areas. I was in Rochester New York recently and they had plenty of that item. Needless to say, I stocked up, but I felt guilty for buying so many. I saw a lady on television who said she felt the same way when she found and bought extra baby formula. Several people have posted old recipes for formula that contain Karo Syrup and condensed milk, be careful parents’ doctors are warning not to give these old recipes to your baby. One lady gave her baby cow’s milk and the poor baby brook out in a horrible rash. Who knew what a baby eats prior to age one was that complicated? I don’t have children and I have never cared for a baby for more than a few hours at a time. I hope and pray this shortage is soon over. And when someone runs on the platform of bringing manufacturing of everything back to the United States and means it, I’m in.
