Is it just me or do you feel trapped? The other day I had to get out of the house and yes I know that we are not restricted from taking a walk outdoors or riding a bike but so many of the establishments that I frequent are closed. Since retail therapy was out of the question I decided to take a walk around my neighborhood shopping center. The walk was two-fold I needed the exercise and the fresh-air but the investigative reporter in me wanted to see what was open and what was not and of course share the information with you.
Here are some of the stores that were closed or had limited hours as of March 19, 2020: Big Lots, Aldi, GNC and Dollar Tree were open. Planet Fitness was closed as well as the Penn Hills movie theatre. Rainbow was open as well as Giant Eagle. I was surprised to see that both wig stores in that shopping plaza were open. This made me think is this considered an essential item? Maybe the answer to that is a yes since hair salons are closed a lot of people are going to be on their own and may have to purchase a new look until they can get back to their stylist.
All humor aside, if you are going to go out and you should, be cautious. Keep your distance from people, wash your hands before you leave the house and as soon as you come home. Please don’t hoard things you don’t need and look in your cupboards and see what you can use before you buy a lot of things you don’t need. As a friend of mine used to say “this too will pass.”
