Not everyone has a sweetheart that will send flowers, buy candy hearts or take you out for a great dinner. So why not treat yourself. I have never been shy about sending flowers to myself and actually act surprised when they arrive. Receiving flowers is fun even when they come from yourself. I also buy flowers throughout the year no special occasion needed and may I add that I am the only one that sees them. This year I bought myself a box of chocolates and decorated the front door with a beautiful heart-shaped wreath. My evening meal will consist of lamb chops, cauliflower, and roasted Brussel sprouts with fresh berries and whipped cream for dessert. I love my own cooking. This is the perfect time of year to buy something for yourself, if you want it to be an actual Valentine go the day after Valentine’s Day when some items will be on sale. This is the time of year when I might buy myself a piece of fine jewelry or something that I have been waiting to get. The bottom line is I like treating myself and I have never been one to wait for someone else to buy something for me. An acquaintance once said to me while I was planning a milestone birthday “I never heard of someone planning their own party.” I said out loud “who else would plan it?” Plan your own party, buy your own flowers and you may think this is morbid but plan your own funeral. I think funerals are a waste of money and I sure don’t want my family to have to dig into their pockets or ask for donations for mine. I’m heading out now to get myself a dozen roses while I can still smell them. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.
