Originally the title of the column was “so much to enjoy” but that was not what I was trying to get across to the reader. I am hoping that once you read this that you will get out of your house and enjoy life. Recently I went to the Asian Lantern Festival at the Pittsburgh Zoo. It was a chilly evening, so I grabbed a coat, hat and scarf and had a wonderful night. This is not the first time for this event, and I’m sure you have heard about it, or maybe you have seen the lights when you drive by the zoo, but there is nothing like seeing the display up close and walking through the zoo at night. It was well worth the cost of admission which was about $20.
There is also an opportunity to do a “drive-thru,” but walk-thru and drive-thru are not on the same night. The festival will be on selected nights until October 30; grab a friend or go alone. I went with a friend, but I felt like I could have done this solo and would have been safe. I am surprised that many people are still staying inside due to the pandemic please get out and take a walk in the park or just inside of the mall. You don’t have to touch anyone or let them touch you but just to be around people feels good. I even plan to go to see the lights at Kennywood for the Christmas holidays. That is always fun. There is so much to enjoy. One of the things that I enjoy is walking through the farmer’s market. I like to pick up fresh vegetables or a bunch of flowers for the house, and it just feels good to be outside with people. Get out!
