Every year around this time we talk about how quickly the year went by. It was the same 365 days that we passed through in 2020 and 1965 but for some reason it seemed to go so fast. I think as we get older time passes by more quickly, or so we think. What did you do with that year that passed by so fast? Can you think of an accomplishment, something that you were proud of? Did you start to save for the house that you have been telling everyone that you would like to have? Have you cut back on the sweets, and have you stopped smoking or spending your nights at the local casino? The “help you get out of your situation” commercials have already started and come January 1, 2022; they will be non-stop. The thing is you never have to wait until the first of the year to start a new plan. Make up your mind that you want to change and begin the process. Never try to tackle multiple projects all at once. Select one and make progress with it before you move on to something else. Large projects can be overwhelming. For instance, you may want to clean out your closet. Start with one section of the closet instead of removing all clothes from the closet and trying to sort them all out in one day. Then when you make progress, take a break before you move on to the next section and take pride in what you completed. I hate to let an entire year go by without doing something that I’m proud of. This year I competed in two challenges that are related to my thrifting community fortunately I won both. I am jotting down ideas and plans for 2022, putting it on paper helps me to focus. Throughout the year I will check in with you and hope that you are setting goals and finding joy in your accomplishments. Happy New Year to all of you.
