Have you asked yourself when will it stop? I’ve been asking myself that question for quite some time, and I can’t remember when I started asking myself this question. In just the last 4 days, there has been a shooting at a funeral in Pittsburgh, the 82-year-old husband of the Speaker of the House was brutely attacked by a man with a hammer in his own home, and over 150 people were killed in South Korea during a Halloween celebration. In Korea, reportedly, there was a “crowd surge” while thousands were out celebrating the popular holiday, and the partying continued into the morning while the dead and injured were carried away. I do not know about you, but stories like this are unsettling to me. You have to think before you go out about the situation that you are going into. “Will I be going into harm’s way?” As I get older, it seems like the world is getting worse instead of better.
Locally there is so much that I can’t understand: why was Shuman Center closed, why people won’t go back to work and why politicians attack each other instead of stating what their plans are for the voting public. I can’t stand these political ads; all they do is attack each other. I want to hear why I should vote for you versus the other person, that’s all. I have no interest in the mudslinging. As far as the politician’s intent, you must do your own research and vote for your own interests, and don’t let these ads fool you. Be careful of large crowds and the type of crowd you are in. I’m not suggesting that you don’t go out, but always think about yourself first and be aware of your surroundings. Make sure your home is secure. Make the investment in a security system complete with cameras, and don’t be afraid to call 911; it just might save your life.
