Recent tax reform legislation proposed by the U.S. House of Representatives eliminates
the federal Historic Tax Credit (HTC) program. We request your help in ensuring that our elected officials are aware of the importance of this tax credit program in our community!
The HTC is critical to Wilkinsburg as we have many historic structures that can benefit from this preservation program. In fact, the success of our Wilkinsburg Train Station Restoration Project is dependent upon the HTC and is just one example of the great work supported by the program.
Since 1981, the HTC has leveraged more than $131 billion in private investment, created more than 2.4 million jobs, and preserved more than 42,000 historic buildings. The economic revival of our community and others across the state and nation requires incentives like the HTC to focus investment where it is needed most.
You can help us ensure that the federal HTC program is retained in the reformed tax code! Please take a few moments to contact your elected officials and let them know that you support this program.
Here’s what you can do right now:
1. Learn more about the HTC & how it benefits our communities.
2. Make a phone call — look up phone numbers for your representatives.
3. Send a letter — find addresses for your representatives, download and modify this letter template by changing the highlighted sections, and then print and send.
Thank you for your support!
