On Wednesday, June 22 award-winning speaker and writer Debbie Norrell presented the art of covering events for the media to a group of interns at the Point Park University Center For Media Innovation. She wowed them by talking about her impressive career in the media taking them back to when and how she got started in the industry at a small radio station as a producer. The interns learned the importance of being on time, dressing for the occasion, how to ask for media credentials, working with your editor, how to prepare for and conducting interviews, taking photos, word count, and putting it all together to get your story in on time. Her presentation was packed full of information with humorous stories about situations she’s been in throughout her career in the media and also as a SAG-AFTRA actress and voiceover talent.
She had the young audience hanging on to every word and gesture and plenty of hands were up in the air, some several times, to ask questions and get advice from a true expert. The Soul Pitt Media is blessed to have Debbie on our team and to be asked to take part in this project which allowed us to have an awesome intern like Alexus that is paid through the media partnership.
