Community Empowerment Association, Inc. (CEA)
Since 1994, CEA has been assisting low-income, disadvantaged youth and families with training, employment, after-school programs, violence prevention and other supportive services. Along with programs to assist in health, employment and education they have now under their umbrella a state of the art recording studio.

What better way to spend a chilly Saturday afternoon than with some of Pittsburgh's rising hot artists?  These young artists represented well with energetic lyrical musical and spoken word selections. Saturday (February 16th) was the first installment of the CEA Cultural Center's Afternoon Performance Series.  CEA also used this as an opportunity and offered tours of their newly opened recording studio.  Many artists in attendance are among some of those who have been taking on an active role in the continued progressive movement within Pittsburgh's artists' community.

Among those listed on the ticket for this afternoon's performance was Gene Stovall, EMS, Sol Sis, HardTimes, Spoken Word artists Bryant Frances and Lioness.  The audience was a well-mixed blend of supporters young and old alike who support the local artists and representatives from the August Wilson Cultural Center, Brother 2 Brother, Brother Ash Productions, as well as, The Soul Pitt.  Everyone enjoyed a festival and friendly atmosphere in which to network with others and enjoy tasty food and drinks.

Be on the look out for future in depth interviews with Community Empowerment Association (CEA) and the
Brother 2 Brother organizations.
