I had the pleasure of attending Qiana Buckner’s event to announce her candidacy for Mayor of Penn Hills on December 8, 2022. The event was held at the Nobleman Cigar Lounge on Frankstown Rd, and the atmosphere was nothing short of amazing!
The laid-back vibe mixed with the backdrop of soothing music and people networking and exchanging ideas—again, amazing! I was so proud of us! The food, catered by Chef Taylor Chappell, of JuDells Eatory & Catering, was simply delicious. Being a cook myself, I highly recommend you give her personal chef and catering services a try. Wilkinsburg Mayor Dontae Comans and his wife Ashley were there, as was Saloam Bey from Credit Power, LLC. Ashley Comans just announced that she is running for state representative! This is an exciting time for Black women in politics!
Just days away from her 45th birthday, Qiana’s announcement to run for mayor of Penn Hills was received with love and support from her family and friends. The Penn State alumni majoring in education is very passionate about creating opportunities and opening doors for young people. The published author and CEO of Diamond in the Rough, a company specializing in all aspects of event planning, has funded many programs and life experiences for our youth. Some examples are the high school mentorship program Girl P.O.W.E.R., the sports program Camp Champions, and the many Health and Wellness and Educational Expos.
She also funds a scholarship program for high school seniors and serves as vice president of the board of directors for the S.I.S. program at the Penn Hills Charter school of Entrepreneurship.
Public security, government transparency, community recreation and investment, public infrastructure, and access to high-quality lifestyles are just a few of Qiana’s many initiatives. She is interested in creating generational changes, and that’s something I can get behind. Congratulations, Qiana Buckner! I’m looking forward to watching your journey.
