Only certain stores were open; we were all wearing masks and remember those arrows on the floor in grocery store aisles. One aisle was an up aisle, and the next one was a down aisle. In some stores the arrows are still glued to the floor. I wonder who thought up all of the “pandemic rules.” There was one rule that was implemented that I really didn’t like, clothing stores that had dressing rooms closed the dressing rooms and blamed it on the pandemic. So, if you wanted to try it on before you bought something you could not. You had to take it home try on and then return it if it did not fit. A few stores kept that rule, and it burns my butt. This one particular store will not even let you try on a jacket in front of the mirror. At first, they used the pandemic as the reason now I think they are using pilferage. Another pandemic favorite was curbside pickup at stores. Grocery stores, drug stores and the like created special parking spaces for people to pick up their orders outside so they would not have to come inside and possibly be exposed to someone who was infected with the Covid virus. I guess people liked that service and 5 years later the curbside pickup spaces still exist. How about all of those restaurants that added tables and chairs to the sidewalk? Some of them are almost in the street. In many cases those are still in use. I like eating outside but I prefer a patio not a sidewalk or a portion of the street. I’m glad the pandemic is behind us, I hope in all ways we can go back to the way it was.

Email the columnist at debbienorrell@aol.com

Click Here to View All “Lifestyles with Debbie Norrell” Articles

It’s been five years since we were in the midst of what we referred to as “the pandemic.” During that time a lot changed.
