If you are of a certain age, let\u2019s say over 60, you remember a time when the biggest complaint was that there was nothing to do in Pittsburgh. Younger people were always wishing that they lived somewhere else because there was nothing to do and nowhere to go in Pittsburgh. I remember so many people moving out of the city to get away from what they thought was a \u201cdead end hick town.\u201d It\u2019s funny how many of those people doubled back to Pittsburgh. I guess the grass is not always greener. Well, look at Pittsburgh now. There is so much to do and so many events to attend that I think it\u2019s hard to keep up. Perhaps it’s because I\u2019m older now and don\u2019t feel like being out every evening, or maybe I\u2019m more selective about where I go. But I think it\u2019s great that Pittsburgh has a City Winery, and they have a steady schedule of known musical artists. The location is good, and you\u2019re guaranteed to run into friends while you are there. The local chapters of the fraternities and sororities are always hosting an event; we have a vibrant casino in Pittsburgh and three others that are not very far away. The casinos offer free parking, and in the bars, entertainment is free as well. Often, they have national acts in concert that require a paid ticket. There are several cigar bars, local bars, and restaurants that offer live music, and in some cases, for a small cover charge, you can enjoy good food and good music. One glaring change is the change in urban neighborhoods. There is a lot of new construction as far as townhomes and apartments that is not affordable for everyone, and many people feel left out and pushed out of the neighborhoods they grew up in. With change, everyone is not always happy, but I like the changes in the city, and I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy them. There is nothing like getting out of the house and having fun.<\/p>\n
