Sometimes change is hard, especially when you are three score and ten. When I was working every day (day job and part-time job), I used to enjoy change because it was often exciting and I didn\u2019t have to do anything to facilitate the change; I just rolled with the company policy. Now that I am my own boss with my own company, “I still can\u2019t believe it,” change can be scary. I am making a big change in my business; at least to me, it\u2019s a big change, and it\u2019s a little difficult to make the adjustment. You know how when you get a system under your belt and all is going smooth and then somebody changes the system? Yes, it\u2019s like that. My young self is talking to my old self, and I heard her say, “Girl, you got this.” It feels like the months before my first live sale back in 2020. I knew I could do it, but I was a little shaky. It all turned out fine, and I have exceeded all of my own expectations. I just printed my tax form for my business and found that my sales increased by 25 percent in 2022 over 2021. The plan is to go forward with my new system and work smarter than before. Fifty years ago, I often thought about having a brick-and-mortar boutique. I had a list of names for it in my dresser drawer, but I always took comfort in working for someone else and receiving that steady paycheck and benefits. It’s funny how things work out; working those “secure” jobs allowed me to now have my own business on my own terms. Some days, I still feel like I\u2019m dreaming. I\u2019m learning every day, and I\u2019ve learned so much that I can now help others. For all of those LLC\u2019s out there and independent contractors out there, tax time is coming. Don\u2019t forget to pay your taxes; that\u2019s what real businesses do.<\/p>\n
