Awards are given in the categories of Arts &amp; Culture, Small Business, Non-Profits, Healthcare, Corporate Organizations, Economic Development &amp; Finance, Government &amp; Politics, Education, Trail Blazers &amp; Influencers and Community.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Carmen was honored in the Corporate Organizations category. In her role as Customer Relations Specialist for Peoples, her primary responsibilities include special needs case management and programs designed to help individuals with limited incomes in satisfying their energy needs.<\/p>\n<p>Carmen is well known in Pittsburgh\u2019s non-profit community, serving as president of the executive board of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and sitting on the YWCA Greater Pittsburgh Community Advisory Committee. Carmen is also active with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh and is a member of Saint Richards\u2019 Guatemala Mission group whose focus is to support an orphanage in Patz\u00fan, Guatemala.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Carmen was honored for her commitment to the community by the Pittsburgh Steelers and National Football League (NFL) as the recipient of the &#8220;NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award&#8221; and also received the <em>Pittsburgh Magazine<\/em> \u201cSpirit of Giving Award.\u201d In 2016, she was recognized by the Talk Minority Action Group, who presented her with the \u201cMinority Achiever\u2019s Award&#8221; as featured in <em>Talk Magazine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so proud of Carmen and her ongoing work, both here at Peoples and in the community,\u201d said Rita Black, Director, Customer Relations for Peoples. \u201cHer compassion for others and her leadership abilities have made her an indispensable part of our team and an asset to Pittsburgh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latino Connection<\/strong>\u00a0is a Pennsylvania marketing and communications agency that launches brands into multicultural markets.
