Baxter<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><strong>T<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Arial\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>he African-American Leadership Association\u2019s 1st African-American leadership summit was such a beautiful event!<\/strong>\u00a0 Held on June 4, 2009 in the IBEW\/Circuit Center on the Southside, the ballroom quickly filled up with folks and by 9am tables were full and we were ready with anticipation to learn from great leaders in our community.\u00a0 <strong>Rev. Dr. William H. Curtis from Mt. Ararat Baptist Church gave an inspirational morning keynote geared for those wanting to become leaders or already in leadership roles.\u00a0<\/strong> He covered five important points about leadership.\u00a0 He last point was \u201cremember as you rise, to scratch out time to enjoy your life\u201d, and Esther Bush, President and CEO of the Urban League of Pittsburgh, added during the Q&amp;A to also remember to \u201ctake care of your health\u201d.\u00a0 Even though it\u2019s something we all know, it something a lot of us forget to practice!\u00a0 Although I had to leave to teach a workshop at Duquense,<strong> I was glad I got to be a sponsor and also experience some of the summit and will definitely be there next year!<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/soulpittmedia.jalbum.net\/African-American%20Leadership%20Summit\/\"><strong>Click here to take a peek at the photos<\/strong><\/a> taken during the morning session\u2026.<em>I think I\u2019ll go out and enjoy the rest of this beautiful day!<\/em> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1st African-American Leadership Summit Review by Donna M.
