Lord Did You Hear

Did you hear me when I said I couldn’t pay my bills?

Did you hear me when I said I own the cattle on a thousand hills?

Did you hear me when I said my child won’t listen to me?

Did you hear me when I said bring the child to me?

Did you hear when the doctor said there’s no more he can do?

Did you hear when I said I’m the great physician?

Did you hear when my enemies were slinging their mud?

Did you hear when I said you wrestle not against flesh and blood?

Did you hear when I said I couldn’t handle these tests?

Did you hear me when I said I would give you rest?

Did you hear me cry out when over my head bullets flew?

Did you hear when I said I’d give my angels charge over you?

Did you hear when I cried out because I went astray?

Did you hear when I said my mercies are new everyday?

Did you hear me cry out because this addiction is no joke?

Did you hear when I said my anointing would break every yoke?

Did you hear me when I said I no longer know what to do?

Did you hear me when I said I would never leave nor forsake you?

It’s Hard To Be A Christian

It’s hard to be a Christian when alone you have to take a stand

It’s not as hard as having nail prints in your hands

It’s hard to be a Christian when people constantly do you wrong

It’s not as hard as being, whipped all night long

It’s hard to be a Christian when all your friends have fled

It’s not as hard as having a crown of thorns placed on your head

It’s hard to be a Christian when on you people have lied

It’s not as hard as being pierced in your side

It’s hard to be a Christian people think that I am odd

It’s not as hard as being separated from your God

It’s hard to be a Christian I’m never on the popular list

It’s not as hard as being struck in the face with fist

It’s hard to be a Christian and run this difficult race

It’s not as hard as having someone spit in your face

It’s hard to be a Christian living in a sinful nation

It’s not as hard as having to die for your salvation

Black History
by Tracy Bruce

Every year we celebrate black history
But to most of us it’s still a mystery

Please teach us how you had to fight
To eat in restaurants that was only for whites

Perhaps we would focus more on education
If we are taught about school segregation

Sometimes we read it in a history book
But perhaps you should share the journey you took

Everybody knows about Martin and civil rights
But teach us about the Tuskegee Airmen’s flights

Others have shared our history with you
Please give us something to look forward too

Please teach us who we really are
So our hero won’t be a negative rap star

Please teach us about our great black history
So it won’t become the great black mystery
