As the Pittsburgh affiliate of Dress for Success® (DFS Pittsburgh) embarks on the journey of expanding its services to economically disadvantaged women, the organization invites others to share in aiding women in the road to self-sufficiency.
“In order to fully succeed, our clients need much more than clothing,” says Wendy Maletta, co-founder of the local organization. “We prepare each woman for what it takes to be successful in her employment, which for many of our clients also means dealing with the pressures of being a working mother.” DFS Pittsburgh addresses this need by offering image consulting, professional attire, interview techniques, and workshops on workplace etiquette and life management skills.
As a volunteer driven organization, DFS Pittsburgh would not be able to fulfill its mission without the dedicated volunteers who give up time during the week to help aspiring women.
- Are you able to coordinate a savvy, put-together look?
- Do you enjoy meeting new people, exchanging ideas and making a difference in someone’s life?
Then DFS Pittsburgh needs YOU!
The organization is searching for talented and enthusiastic individuals willing to offer time as Image Consultants, to help with administrative work in our new downtown office, and to act as donation pick-up coordinators, in addition to other assignments. “Volunteering with Dress for Success is a mutual benefit for all involved. Friendships are forged and there is satisfaction in helping a woman along the road to independence and success,” adds volunteer Patricia Deleonibus.
“Dress for Success Pittsburgh is more than just dressing a woman for employment. We provide more than just interview suits. Therefore, our need is much greater than just dresses, suits and shoes,” says Board Co-Chair Beth Slagle.
