Mexican Food Goes From Best To Even Better

 

Whether it's the homemade salsa that screams "fresh" to your taste buds, or the wonderfully warm and creamy specialty white cheese dip that captures your every sense of

 

appetizer delight, Azul, formerly known as Cozumel and located at 5505 Walnut Street in the cozy Shadyside Area of Pittsburgh,  has just made one of the best authentic Mexican food menus even better! 

 

 

"There will be all the favorites from Cozumel's menu, but we have plans to add a few new special entrees,

 

appetizers, deserts and a great bar menu with all the American bar food favorites done with a Mexican twist",

 

states new owner  operator, John E. Lobro, a Central Catholic & Penn State University 

graduate.  Lobro bought the then Cozumel Restaurant from his mentor,

 

Bikki Kochhar, who was noted as the 2005 Entrepreneur of the year  by Earnst & Young. 

 

Azul,  as Cozumel,  has been the most highly awarded authentic Mexican cuisine in

 

Pittsburgh for over a decade.

 

 

The head chef of Azul is Augustine Garcia has many

 

years of experience in authentic Mexican cuisine and is passionate about his profession..

 

Another new factor Azul offers is the specialization in catering Mexican cuisine with their

 

famous flavor and styles for events and gatherings of all sizes.  Many local schools and

 

educators bring their Spanish classes to dine at Azul for  a little taste and experience with

 

the Hispanic culture-this is do to many of Azul's Hispanic and Spanish speaking employee.

 

 The Grand opening of Azul is scheduled for May 1, 2006.  This will also serve as the kick  off for the

 

Cinco De Mayo Celebration Week.  During this week, Azul will have nightly

 

Entertainment which includes specialty margaritas, appetizers,  week long promotions and give-a-ways. 

 

 

"Cozumel has always been known  as the place for Cinco De Mayo

 

celebration.  With our new name, We are still the place to celebrate", states Lobro.  Azul

 

has a 300 people capacity and is the only Restaurant & night club in Shadyside with a   

 

huge dance floor, new state of the art sound and light System, pool table, darts, leather

 

couches in lounge area and no cover!

 

 "We have completely renewed and renovated from the new wood floors, artwork, lights,

 

sound, chairs & couches", states Lobro.  "We have always been the spot for Hispanic,

 

Latino and other multi-cultural communities within Pittsburgh", states

 

Lobro.  He continues,  "We plan to continue our community involvement with our new

 

name, better menu and improve look!  We also have been involved with countless

 

fundraisers , have worked with most student groups at Pitt, CMU and other local

 

schools".  In addition to wonderful Authentic Mexican Food, Azul has nightly multi-

 

cultural entertainment.  Highlights of these nights are Monday night is Jazz night, Tuesday

 

nights RADIOHIPHOP DJ night, Wednesday the much celebrated Salsa Night with the

 

best Latin Djs and bands, Thursday live band night. Azul is available to book private &     

 

corporate events at  Parties, performances and has gift certificates available.
