About Learning 2 Unlearn
Learning 2 Unlearn Entertainment was founded in October of 2005 by Nathan James, for the purpose of creating a platform for solo performers around the globe to create revenue and showcase their talents. It started out as the title and concept around his debut Spoken Word CD, “Learning 2 Unlearn”. The name itself is inspired by Carter G. Woodson’s legendary novel, “The Miseducation of the Negro”. This text along with many others supports Nathan’s theory that the African/American needs to educate his/herself as to exactly what they have been taught to know as fact from pre-school throughout Academia. When held up to the light, you find that the majority of education as we know it has not been education at all, it is “Training”. Training is the development or maintaining of one’s skill, whereas Education is the aquiring of knowledge or to be made aware. Therefore, to be educated, is to know the “Truth”. If we are consistently taught false history, the heroing of men who have committed some of the most notorious crimes in the history of man, inaccurate origins of philosophy, math, and sciences; can we really say that we are learning the truth. If the truth has not been embedded in you, then you can you say that you have indeed been educated? Often times in institutions we are simply taught to memorize and regurgitate enormous amounts of information, and rarely are we taught to question whether or not the information in these texts are historically authentic. When one seeks to “Learn” to “Unlearn”, they embrace their need to ask themselves if they have been trained or educated.
